Land Referencing Standard

6.8 Special characteristics of land
A special characteristic of land shall be recorded where it can change the inquiry, engagement, consent, acquisition, compensation, approval or output requirements.
The record shall identify:
characteristic type and jurisdictional name;
source authority;
geographic extent and stratum, where relevant;
date or period of validity;
applicable effect or review requirement;
evidence and quality status; and
affected land and requirements.
The existence of a mapped designation shall not establish its legal effect on a particular right unless the necessary relationship is supported by evidence.
EXAMPLE: Protected land status, heritage designation, common or community land status, public open space, inalienability, environmental designation or a statutory undertaking status attached to land.
