Sarah Joss

I have worked in the Land Referencing industry since 2013, beginning my career at Mouchel working primarialy on the HS2 Phase One project. Since then, I have had the privilege of contributing to a range of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, each bringing its own unique challenges, opportunities, and achievements. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive technical expertise and advisory skills, enabling me to support clients and project teams in delivering complex Development Consent Orders. I currently work as an Associate Land Consultant at Mott MacDonald, where I provide strategic land referencing advice across major infrastructure schemes.

I am passionate about strengthening the connection between Land Referencing and the geographical profession. As a Chartered Geographer with the Royal Geographical Society, I am committed to promoting the value and professional recognition of our industry. I joined the Professional Engagement Committee to help advance the profession, align it with established professional bodies, and support individuals pursuing professional accreditation and chartered status.

As Chair of the SoLR Professional Engagement Sub-Committee, I work closely with fellow committee members and the wider SoLR team to organise and deliver the annual Land with Certainty Conference, alongside a programme of Continuing Professional Development events and initiatives. I am proud to play a role in raising the profile of Land Referencing, fostering professional growth within the industry, and helping position the profession at the forefront of infrastructure delivery.
